Shakespeare in the Wrong Hands

It is now official (finally). After twelve long days of auditions and call backs I’ve been cast to play the character “Hamlet” in the Pasadena City College (PCC) production of “Shakespeare in the Wrong Hands”. This will be my first stage performance since June of 2001 and I’m very excited. I was in my first movie on Friday. I played a SWAT officer in “Radio Free Abelmuth” (scheduled for release in theatres in 2008). I got a gun, a fight scene, a police uniform, a bullet-proof vest, and a car chase… it was AWESOME!

Shakespeare in the Wrong Hands audition

This week I had my 1st actual theatrical audition in over 10 years. In May of 2001 I auditioned for the CalArts one act festival, but that was a formality, (I'd already done the role for another occasion with the same director). "Keely and Du" in April, 1997 was my last real audition.
"Shakespeare in the Wrong Hands" is the new show at Pasadena City College. Duke Stroud is directing the play and we had call backs Sunday night. I was reading for the Bogart-like role of "Justin Time". It's a big part and I really like it, and want it. I watched The Maltese Falcon in preparation for call backs. Final call backs are Wed. after my acting class. I will know more soon, and hopefully it's good news. I'm very excited about the idea of really having a life in the theatre again.
Being a part of the audition process again was a whole lot of fun.

I need one actor, white male, 20's - 50's, who can play crazy really well. I mean insane. I'm talking one flew way, way over the cuckoo's nest. Must be able to read well. This is for a table read, on Sunday October 14th. It may lead to work. Producers and managers will be present. Food will be provided.

Seeking ALL TYPES , ALL ETHNICITIES for comedy shorts

Build your reel while we work together to build a destination sketch comedy web site.
Our team has a small writing staff that writes together weekly. They bring the best of their material to bi-weekly meetings of our entire collective, where actors read the pieces for directors and producers. These table reads give you a chance to originate characters, and we later audition for chosen shorts. It's a fun group of people all working together to create quality comedy and build a site that showcases us all. We have a core of actors working with us now, but want to expand by adding a few new members.
No one in our group will be making any money on any of these projects, and I have no intentions of selling any false promises about money down the road. The real goal of every person involved is to create high-production-value demo reel material together.
If chosen, your time commitment would be every other Sunday evening, plus weekend shoots (almost always one-day) for the projects in which you are cast. Sketches tend to be intelligent humor for adults in the real world, with effort made to create material different than what has come before. (Not that we always hit that mark.) Characters are rarely the SNL-type caricatures, but are often something and actor can sink her/his teeth into.
Interested? Send an introduction (prove to me you know what you're applying for) and a headshot and resume.
Look forward to hearing from you!

Untitled Fantasy Film

I am in need of people in love with the fantasy world. I am in the middle of creating a fantasy film and I have need of anybody that is willing to just have fun with it, have a TRUE passion for fantasy stuff (i.e. medieval ages, d&d, forgotten realms) and wants to contribute to the film. I mainly need good fantasy artists right at this moment. People that can draw very vivid creatures like orcs, goblins, giants, etc. Go ahead and send me a few sketches to my email and if I am interested I will get back to you. Everybody helping in this project is working for free until we can find funding, which won't be hard with the star names I already have attached. Once funding kicks in after everything is organized, there will be pay, and my guess is, a LOT of it! To anybody that wants to contribute to this film, feel free to email me with what you would like to help on. FANTASY ARTISTS, PLEASE EMAIL ME!

2.) Male Actor needed/ 20-35/ ASAP
This is a Brooks Institute of Photography short film in which we need a male actor for MONDAY 31st. It will be late in the evening, as the script calls for night scenes. It is an Ernest Hemingway adaptation. Please send headshots and resumes ASAP tonight so we can get in contact with you IMMEDIATELY. The short notice is due to a location that cannot be passed up. Thank you for your interest.

Zombies and /or Leading Roles

I'm doing a "zombie" film of sorts. The film will shoot within the next three months and as of now we are in pre-production.
One of my main concerns is finding individuals to portray the living dead and I thought it would be best to go ahead and start searching for those individuals. We are looking for a more "28 Days Later" type than the white faced "Night of the Living" type of zombie.

So if you've ever wanted to be a zombie or just love zombie films in general, this is the gig for you. If you're up for it or even have some questions, feel free to respond and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. Right now, there is no pay BUT if you want a copy of the film once it is finished we will be happy to get you a copy, so you can brag to your friends of course.

Also, once we get some of the other pre-production done with, we will be looking for people to take up the lead roles. We will release more info at that time but if you think you may be interested in a starring role please let us know and you will be the first people we look at. Please don't be discouraged if you have a lacking or non-existing resume because as a student filmmaker I know some of the best talent hasn't been discovered yet. It would be even better if you include a headshot in your response.
So thank you for your time and I can't wait for your responses.

Actors Needed for "Hitman Film".

Starting in December, Phoenix/Ace Productions will come along side H&K Productions and produce a 15 minute short film. Right now all roles are open. We only need one female actor for the one female role, the rest are male roles. Roles that need to be filled include:

lead- hitman- age range 22-25
supporting- age range 22-25
mob boss- age range 40-45
second hand man- age range 35-45

Extra's will be included as well (meaning bodyguards). As a side note this will be a semi-physical role, as it is a "hitman" film. Because this is a student film, there will be no compensation. Each actor will receive the final cut product on dvd. Thank you for your interest and good luck.

My "Freddy Krueger" part got the Knife!

On August 18th, 2007 I wrote this post on my Myspace blog:

"I have booked my 1st professional acting gig! It is the commercial for the Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. I will be playing the role of Freddy Krueger! Part of the theme is "A Nightmare on Elm Street". I am really excited. I'll be getting full prosthetic Freddy make-up from a Universal make-up artist and everything. I was Freddy Krueger for Halloween in the 5th grade, so landing this role at this time of year seems extra special for nostalgia's sake."

We shot the commercial overnight at Universal Studios and it was a really awesome experience. Unfortunately due to complications with New Line Cinema, the likeness of Freddy Krueger can't be used in the promotional material, and my role has ended up on the cutting-room floor! Oh well...I had a blast and it was the first of many fun and glorious times. I still get paid and have some very cool photos and really great memories.

The photo above was taken while I was off-camera brushing up on some valuable advice from "Uta Hagen"!

“Acting/Talent Gigs” in LA found on Craig’s List

“Acting/Talent Gigs” in LA found on Craig’s List I have replied to:

1.) Casting for Extreme Horror Short-

Alone in the desert after a horrific motorcycle crash kills his girlfriend and leaves him crippled, a remorseful crook (trying to get that last score to finally get out of the life) tries to make peace with the choices he made that led him to this point...and save his soul before the vultures close in.

Male 20's/30's. Good looking in a hardened/criminal way...think Jason Statham, Clive Owen, Daniel Craig. Must be a strong actor and relatively fearless as you will go through some intense stuff! Basically you will be pinned under a motorcycle with a broken leg...confined...and have to watch the buzzards pick the eyes out of your pregnant girlfriend's corpse. Not for the squeamish! Pay is 100 dollars for a ONE DAY shoot plus HALF day of re-shoots if needed

2.) Vegetarian Video Interviews-

My book, The Beginner's Guide to Natural Living—which is sold in health food stores across the country—advocates a wide variety of natural living lifestyle choices, including a vegetarian diet.
I'll ask several questions related to being vegetarian, such as: How old you are, when you started, why you started eating vegetarian, any health benefits you experienced, what you eat, etc., etc. I currently have several videos up, so you can take a look at them, if you'd like to see more or less what I'm looking for (of course, from your personal experience).
If this sounds interesting to you and you'd like to participate, then PLEASE do the FOLLOWING:

1. Email me and tell me your name, how old you are, how long you've been vegetarian, why you started eating vegetarian, and any health benefits you gained from going vegetarian.
2. Please attach a current picture of yourself, AND/OR, give me a web site address with your pictures.
3. Please tell me why you want to be interviewed and any other details you wish to share.

For pay, you'll receive a copy of my book, and I'll give you a copy of the finished video to use on your web site. You will need to sign a model release.

3. Passionate Actors Wanted for Unique Sitcom Pilot-

We are currently casting for a Sitcom development project about the after life. This new series has not been picked up by anyone, but based on our past successes we have several online and cable network big wigs already salivating for something new from us.

We are looking for the following passionate actors with a comedic flare to join with us in our exciting journey to launch this really unique project that we believe will really turn heads because of its message and content:

Caucasian or Mixed Race Male, 40’s to late 50's, preferably with salt and pepper hair, enjoys drinking, friendly and somewhat feminine but not overtly gay. Think Paul Lynde, who played the character of "Uncle Arthur" from the 1960's Betwitched television show.

Now of the tough part…unfortunately since we have a very low budget we cannot pay our cast or crew. This is truly a labor of love that will be shot over a weekend or weekends. We are very loyal and will do our best to bring along everyone who joins us on our journey when the project gets picked up. We will feed you to your hearts content and we will do our very best to give you a DVD copy of the shoot. There will be auditions and rehearsals, because we want to get this as close to perfect as possible before shooting. If you’ve got the guts and fire in the belly, email us a headshot and your info.

Good luck!

4.) Need Male Stand In for major actor feature-

Stand In needed to day play for Michael Madsen for an independent union feature shooting in early October. Middle aged, dark hair, roughly 6 feet, 200lbs. No stunt work required. Please email headshot, resume and dimensions. This is a paid gig. Thank you.

5.) Very Outgoing Geeky Gamer types for PAID job-

We are looking for very outgoing geeky gamer types for an a job coming up soon. This is a paid job. Acting ability a plus. Send a photo, resume of last 3 jobs and a few positive words about yourself. You should be able to approach strangers.

6.) "VAMPIRELLA" MOVIE - Supporting Cast - PAID (UPDATE)

Currently casting for the "VAMPIRELLA" Film Teaser to be shot on HD/35mm This is a 10-minute teaser that will be shown to Harris Comics based off the feature film and comic book Icon, “VAMPIRELLA” Vampirella.com Seeking actors.
